I used this motherboard to build two of my systems.
First thing you have to know:
DRAM SOCKETS ARE EXTREMELY TIGHT.
Let me say that again: DRAM SOCKETS ARE EXTREMELY TIGHT.
On both my systems I installed windows 7 os’s and they reported only 24 GB (16 usable) of memory when I installed 32GB. After going through tons of worthless tech boards, and a bottle of 16 year old scotch, I finally, carefully, reinserted and played with the DRAM until the boards were well-seated, and Windows read 32 GB in both systems. Also on one of the systems the cable from the power supply to main motherboard power has trouble seating, so I had to play with that a little until the green led motherboard power indicator lit up. ASUS doesn’t have drivers for windows server systems (but who does?) so I had to put the windows server 2008 OS on a VM. Runs great with 16 gb allocated to the VM, not so well with 8 gb, so take note, you’ll need 32 gb if you’re planning on the same setup.
