After installing an old Windows 8.1 operating system on an old machine, the X2Go client software suddenly wouldn’t work on the reinstalled operating system. After a windows debugging session, and some soul searching, I found out that X2Go Client was trying to talk to another program that handles the xorg server stuff called vcxsrv.exe. For some reason this executable didn’t like Windows 8.1. Can’t say I blame it. Anyway, I dug through the archives and installed successive versions of X2Go client, all of which failed with different reasons, until I came across. version x2goclient-4.0.3.2. This one worked without incident. You can find it here:
