Yesterday I was upgrading a 2008 R2 Server to 2012, and everything seemed to go fine. A few hours after the upgrade, one of the users was reporting multiple crashes of Word 2013 on certain files. A complete office reinstall would have cost substantial time, because the users had outlook clients running underneath their accounts.

First I attempted doing a Word repair on the server and rebooted, but that didn’t work, Word kept crashing. The second thing I did was disabled the Word feature in the Office bundle, rebooted, then enabled Word again. This fixed the Word crash issue.
